Who We Are
We are a community-based centre run by a parent management committee. We are not for profit, so any profit is directed back into the centre.
Management Committee meetings are held monthly and all are welcome to attend. Parents are welcome to join the committee if interested.
We are a mixed-age centre with a separate indoor and outdoor area for children under two. Our roll is a maximum of 30 children. Our teaching team is made up of seven fully registered and experienced teachers, one teacher in training, and one long-serving untrained but very experienced teacher.
Our building is purpose-built with great bathroom facilities and two separate sleep rooms.

Our Principles
Our aim is to make our centre a place where:
Security
Tamariki feel happy, secure and confident in their environment.
Partnership
Parents and kaiako work in partnership. Consultation with whānau is an ongoing process.
Respect
Tamariki are respected as individuals and their efforts and ideas are valued.
Development
Tamariki are able to work at their own pace and level of development.
Multi-Cultural
Tamariki experience a multi-cultural perspective.
Environment
The environment is hands-on where the tamariki can explore and experiment.
Statement of Philosophy
We exist to provide an empowering, safe, inclusive, engaging, learning-focused environment which enables children to become competent and capable life-long learners.
Aotearoa has a unique cultural heritage. All children have the right to knowledge and understanding of this bi-cultural heritage. We honour the Principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (Participation, Protection and Partnership) through the use of te reo, tikanga and through valuing te ao Māori.
We value play-based, child-led experiences which are extended through intentional and curriculum-informed teaching strategies. We are committed to ensuring our tamariki experience the learning outcomes of Te Whāriki’s Te Ara Whānui curriculum pathway. We also value the holistic way that children learn and grow, keeping in mind Mason Durie’s Te Whare Tapa Whā model.
As a community-based Centre, we aim to ensure that everyone has a place and voice through the practice of whanaungatanga. We hold space for everyone to contribute to the collective environment. We value building and nurturing caring, respectful relationships for the well-being of tamariki, whānau, kaiako, and our local community. We also foster relationships within and between people and spaces which incorporate tuakana/tēina, ako and manaakitanga.
We foster respect and appreciation for Papatūanuku through local walks, nature resources, sustainable practices and embodying the role of kaitiakitanga. We value the role of the environment as a third teacher.
Ko te Tamaiti te Pūtake o te Kaupapa — The Child, the heart of the Matter.
